There is currently no booking system for private play so if the courts do get busy we operate a rotation system whereby players on the court must complete one set and make way for waiting players.
Adult Social Play
There are four scheduled Open Sessions each week on Mondays at 18.30, Wednesdays at 9.30 (except during school holidays when they are at 13.30), Thursdays at 18.45 and Sundays at 14.30, running all the year round. NESTLTA and Tennis Scotland
The Club is affiliated by subscription to both the District Association (north East Scotland Lawn Tennis Association) and Tennis Scotland (the Lawn Tennis Association). This provides wider opportunities for development and competition for Juniors and Adults. The Club will endeavour to flag events as they arise but equally you are encouraged to make sure that we are aware on anything that you may hear of.
North East Scotland League Teams and Practice Sessions
We have three mens teams and two ladies teams playing in the local LTA League. If you are interested in participating, speak to our Captains, Pawel Wertowski and Jane Hoare and come along to a team practice session. There are also opportunities to play in inter-club social matches such as the Deeside League and the Mixed Social League..
North East Scotland Junior Matches
The Club is seeking to promote and engage in more inter-club junior play. Please contact our Junior Coordinators or our Coach if you are keen for your child to be involved
Monthly Saturday Events
We have regular Senior or Junior social events about once a month on Saturday afternoons. They generally take the form of short games, run in a round-robin tournament style where partners are continually rotated. Refreshments and snacks or barbeque are provided and they commence at 13.30 for play at 14.00. Watch the website and Club noticeboards for information on the forthcoming events.
Tennis Ladder
We operate a tennis ladder via a board in the clubhouse. For further information see our website and contact Pawel.
Club Championships
These will take place over the weekend of 24th – 26th August, and 30th August – 1st September including Finals Day. For “fun doubles” you simply nominate yourself for the different categories and then, your partner will be selected for you and a handicap awarded depending on your pairing Alternatively, this year we will trial a new “competitive doubles” category in which you enter as your own selected pairing. Please put these dates in your diary because if you are not available over those two weekends, you will not be able to join in the fun!
Annual Prize Giving Dinner
The annual dinner will be held shortly after the Championships, on Saturday 8th September at Buchanans’s Bistro, Woodend Barn. It is a very convivial and entertaining evening!
Tennis Holidays
Depending on demand, we organise group holidays with structured daily coaching to a location outside the UK. For the past two years we made a pre-season visit to Vale de Lobo in Portugal and this March we are going to Spain.
Wimbledon Ballot
Every member is entitled to free membership of British Tennis (the LTA), and providing they have registered and “Opted In” to the Wimbledon Ballot, they will be eligible to take part in the Club Ballot for Wimbledon tickets. Every year we have a dozen or so very happy members, but the allocation we receive is determined by the number of members who opt-in. Therefore even if you don’t intend going to Wimbledon, please opt-in (it takes a couple of minutes) because this gives the greatest chance of your fellow members getting tickets.
Safeguarding
Note that the Club operates a Policy and Procedure for child safeguarding. If you ever have any concerns about an event or behaviour that you have noticed at a club activity, it is incumbent upon you to report your concern immediately to the Welfare Officer, Paul Wilson or other appropriate person as described in the Procedure. Full details are available on our website and posted in the Clubhouse.
Club Kit
Branded clothing is available via an online shop on our website. To keep costs down, orders are made in batches. If you are interested in purchasing some items please note your interest and we will make sure you are informed when orders for the next batch are being taken.
Becoming a Member
If you haven’t yet decided, we will be pleased to meet you and let you have a taster. Join us, preferably online please or failing that, complete and return a membership form.
